Rafiki Rwanda Village- Day 3

The schedule for our 2nd full day in the village was the same as yesterday:

Daily schedule:
Awake- 6am
Devotionals- 7:30 (leave10 min early to walk down)
Clean Teeth- 8am-12pm
Lunch- 12:00-1pm
Clean teeth- 1pm-5pm
Dinner 5:30 (got there at 5:20 to help)
Cottage time- 6ish to 7ish
7ish to bedtime- free time

I slept well last night--YAY God!  I got about 7 -8hrs of sleep.

We cleaned the teeth of 17 people today-- 14 kids and 3 adults (the teachers).

We also went into the other classrooms and finished teaching the kids how to brush in "circles".

At lunch today Mama Marie (pronounced Mary) tested me to see if I knew the name of her 7 girls... YAY, I passed the test.

Tonight we had plantains, they call it "matoki".  When baked, they are not sweet at all and have the consistency of potato.

Cottage time at Mama Marie's was beautiful...I shed many tears of joy espec during prayer time.  We sang songs and danced together-- I took pics of her family below.  Love this precious family!

Mama Marie and her 7 girls (all of these girls are double orphans and are now the wards of Rafiki and Mama Marie is their assigned Mama).

Names from left to right: Jeane (pronounced Jen), Claire, Diana (i's sound like e's in their accent), Mama Marie with 2yr old Clementine on her lap, Hope, Adeline, Bebeto and Alphonsine is the Mama-in-training sitting on the floor.

Close-up with Mama Marie and baby Clementine.  When Clementine came to the village, her expression was dead-pan always.. she never made an expression.  She had a hard beginning in this world.  Mama Marie's love and the love of her new "sisters" brought this baby out of her shell and she's a joyful little girl now!

Back in the guest cottage, sweet Will (Wilma-ha) helped me name all the pics of the children & adults from the dental clinic.

Stayed up WAY later than I meant to... 10pm, but it took a long time to fall asleep tonight-- close to midnite before finally drifting off.

Sherri was awakened by a loud bird w a very distinct song... she was up several hours in the night.  Not sure how I slept throught it??  Surprising but very grateful for the sleep!
