I still have to finish packing and have various errands and tasks to still complete in order to be ready to leave tomorrow morning for Africa.
God, you know my concerns and anxieties... travel peace, security, dental equip and luggage undamaged delivery to destination, and one concern that is growing... the increasing sensitivity of that tooth that had the recent root canal. Lord, you tell us to cast all our anxieties on you, so that is what I'm doing. I give you all these issues of concern and place them at the foot of the cross and plead for your grace and mercy on this sinner. Most of all I pray that your spirit inside me will be stronger than my will... I want to glorify you in all the small travel discomforts/inconveniences/disappointments and sleep deprivation etc and I can only do that with your help.
The aim of this blog is to capture the history of my first mission trip to Africa... my first mission trip anywhere for that matter. May God receive all the praise and glory every step of the way!

Jeff & Boys vacation
Bittersweet. I sent Jeff, Herman and the boys off today for their vacation. I'm sad to miss out on the family vacation this year, but happy that they get to do this 3 generational trip out to see Rebecca. It will keep them from missing me while I'm gone for almost 3 weeks.
God please keep my family safe on their trip and grant them unity and harmony.

Date Night
My sweet sister and her hubby did a great thing! They invited the boys to spend the night last night so Jeff and I could have a date night before being apart for 3 weeks.
Very nice to spend a quiet evening with Jeff before we launch into these trips.
Thanks Cath!

Last typhoid pill!!
YAY! Last typhoid pill today. I'll be drug free until I start taking the daily malaria meds on the trip.
Hard to believe that I'm leaving for Africa Friday... less than a week away!
Praying for packing wisdom!

Home-made hand sanitizer
Today we had a lot of 4th of July festivities which were a lot of fun. Mom came over to join the festivities & she gave me some home-made hand sanitizer to take on the trip. Thanks Mom!

Testing Malaria meds
Today I tested whether I could "tolerate" the malaria meds. Dr. Rousse strongly warned I test this ahead of time instead of risk the results of one of his patients that vomited all the way to the airport.
I quickly saw the wisdom in his advice, so I tested the malaria pill today. Thank you Lord that I can tolerate it and that I learned ahead of time that I need to take it with a large meal.
Typhoid is all that is left and that begins tomorrow!
Also, I met the sweetest woman today-- Rosalie, in Dr. Rousses's office. She organizes all the travel shots in the office and she has a real heart for the world and helping those that need help. She has a great vision to educate NWA about other countries & their needs. I hope to spend more time learning about her vision when I get back from this trip.
